Today I will bring you to a whollyEnglish immersion kindergarten which is very popular among kids.
Muffy’s Kindergarten is the first wholly Englishimmersion kindergarten I know. I took wholly English immersion as full with Englishteachers and teaching in English literally. However, after my visit to theirShijiyuan School and my interview with Principal Annie, I realize it means morethan that. Located on the fifth floor of B Tower of HuiboBuilding on Landianchang Road in the north of Haidian District, Muffy’s has avery good reputation in the parents.
It is a specialplace.
BeforeI entered the school, I saw an air report and today’s recipes on the gate. Annietold me attentively that every day before the opening of school, teachers wouldpost today’s air quality report at the school gate to inform parents if it issuitable for outdoor activities. And before school is over on every Friday, doctorson health care would post next week’s menu below the air quality test report incase parents might want to know about their child’s nutritional intake.
I wasattracted by the book corner after passing the receptions. I saw Little Prince, Aladdin's lamp, and so on. Annie said with proud, “We will havereading meeting occasionally. In the meeting, students from senior class wouldread for students from junior class. Reading not only strengthens theinteraction between children, but also exercises children’s eloquence.”
When wewalked in the, I noticed that the pictures of the wall seemed very special. Theywere handcrafts and hand-painting co-made by foreign teachers and children. Whenchildren see their work on the wall, they would feel very proud of themselves.
Therewas a small incidence during my visit. I forgot to wear overshoes before Ienter school. And a child discovered it and told me, “You should wear overshoeswhen entering school. We just clean it.” I instantly felt so embarrassed, “I’msorry. I will wear them immediately.” It seems that children in Muffy’s have verygood health awareness.
I canfelt the strong love and pride of Annie for their school when she took usaround. I asked her, “What makes Muffy’s different from other kindergartens?”Annie answer seriously, “Unlike classrooms of ordinary kindergartens, eachclassroom here has a different decoration style; our teachers are very caringthat they even paste every child’s English name on their small stool; childrenare happy in every lesson, because teachers understand that it is children’snature to play. So we teach children knowledge by playing with them; each childhas the right to develop on his own way. Our teachers’ job is to guide them andhelp them release their nature and imagination through communication andsharing.” Some parents might discover that kids can manage their things atschool while they do nothing at home. Annie advised us to let go at home tooffer kids a chance to do their own things. And you will find they can dobetter at home.
It is worth mentioning that, there are thick carpets on the way to the stadium toprevent children from falling badly.
It’s up to the kids.
Childrenhere are the perfect voters for Muffy’s. I interviewed several students bychance, “Hi, do you like here?”
“Yes. I do.”
“Why?”
“Ilike the teachers here.” Or “I have friends to play with here.” Or “It isboring to stay at home alone.” Or “The cakes here are delicious.” Or “I likethe big slide here.”
To sumup, children like Muffy’s because they never feel lonely here. By the way, Ican see that their English is much better than mine.
Theunique philosophy of education and teaching methods in Muffy’s constitute itsdifference and I am sure it would be more and more popular among parents.
