What I love about teaching: Teaching allows your to watch the growth and development of children every day. It enables you to have a privilege to be part of the vital stages of a child’s early development. The ability to inspire is a rewarding and priceless aspect of teaching and it is what I love the most about teaching.
What I love most about Beijing:I love what being in a foreign country has taught me. Living in Beijing, a city so rich in culture and opportunity, has allowed me to have experiences which I could never have had in my home country. I am forever grateful for how kind and welcoming people are and Beijing holds a special place in my heart.
Favourite teaching story:Children are often scared when they first come to school or meet an unfamiliar face. Children often feel distressed and uneasy around a foreign teacher if they are not familiar with them. I was in a new class for the day and I had one child who was very distressed at having a new teacher, he kept telling me ‘I don’t want you’ and was screaming and crying for me to leave. Once he realised I wasn’t a scary monster, he started to interact and feel more comfortable with me. He slowly began to want to talk to me and participate in class and conversation. At the end of the day, he came up to me and said ‘teacher, I like you’ and gave me a big hug. I will never forget this moment, I was proud that I was able to create an environment where this child felt comfortable and safe. The student realised what he said in the morning wasn’t nice and wanted to rectify his unfriendly behaviour. It was a very unforgettable teaching day for me.

What I love about teaching: I love teaching as it is an opportunity to impart the knowledge and experiences I have gathered over my life and gift it to the next generation. It really is a privilege to be allowed to witness a child having a Eureka moment and a new concept making sense.
What I love most about Beijing:It’s multiculturalism and opportunities.I come from a small community and when I first moved to Beijing the scale of the city was quite daunting. I craved community, but when you look closer Beijing is full of communities, and opportunities. Since living in Beijing I have realised a dream to perform comedy, I have also learnt to dive, worked for charities and also met my husband.
Favourite teaching story:Each year I have taught at Muffy’s has contained multiple experiences I will cherish for a very long time. From the lesson where I taught my class what plants really eat, to the boy who started my class afraid and timid and guiding him to become one of the most confident students in my class. So it is impossible to limit this to one.

What I love most about Beijing:you can find anything you want in Beijing. It is an exciting city with endless new things to try.
Favourite teaching story:At my summer camp I had a few students tell me it was the best part of their summer. A few campers actually moved away and would travel each year just to come to camp! Seeing the joy and excitement we were able to bring out of the children was always the best part and most memorable. Whenever students themselves voiced this it meant a lot.

What I love about teaching: My favorite thing about teaching is getting to know the students, and watching them grow and develop. It's a great feeling to see a student excel at a skill that they were originally really struggling with. And, as the students' English improves, we can get to know each other even better!

Favourite teaching story:My favorite teaching experiences are any time the kids are genuinely happy and enjoying something we're doing together. For example, singing and dancing to a favorite song, or playing a silly game.

What I love about teaching: how rewarding it is seeing your students understand new things and get excited about learning.
What I love most about Beijing:how it has such a strong history of China alongside such a cosmopolitan lifestyle. It is the best of both, you can visit palaces and historical landmarks one day and then go shoe shopping in a huge mall the next. There really is something for everyone. Plus- THE FOOD!
Favourite teaching story:I have had was watching my youngest student learn to do the balance beam unassisted. There was a lightbulb moment where she realized she didn’t need someone to hold her hand anymore and I realized that I was the one who taught her to have that confidence in herself and that I was teaching skills that went beyond jut language.
